Healthy Masala Oats

Masala oats is a healthy Indian breakfast idea. The oats cooked with mild spices and vegetables is perfect for a diet come nutritious food. It needs to be spiced mildly. So you can adjust or omit the green chilies and red chilly powder according to your preference. As it is a complete meal; more spice may ruin the entire taste.
 Ingredients:
  1. Oats-3/4 cup

  2. Oil-1 tbsp

  3. Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp

  4. Thinly chopped ginger-1 tsp

  5. Thinly chopped green chilly-1

  6. Thinly chopped onion-1 small

  7. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp

  8. Chilly powder- 1/2 tsp

  9. Thinly chopped tomato-1 small

  10. Chopped vegetables- 1/2 cup (i used carrot, beans and sweet corn)

  11. Water-2 cups

  12. Salt-to taste

  13. Coriander leaves-to garnish

Preparation:
  • Heat a pan with oil; splutter cumin seeds.

  • Add ginger and green chilly; saute for a minute.

  • Add onion and saute until slight golden in color.

  • Add turmeric powder and rec powder; give a quick mix.

  • Add thinly chopped tomatoes and saute for two minutes.

  • Add mixed vegetables and saute for 4-5 minutes.

  • Add oats and saute for another two minutes.

  • Add water and salt.

  • Mix well and cover cook on medium flame for 2-3 minutes.

  • Open the lid give a nice mix;The oats becomes a thick porridge consistency.

  • Turn off heat and garnish coriander leaves.

  • Must serve warm with a cup of tea!!
