Easy Pineapple Cherry Dump Cake

My classic cherry dump cake recipe is always popular with readers. However, a few of you have told me that I needed to try using pineapple in the recipe.

I didn’t think my basic cherry dump cake could get any better, but I have to admit that the pineapple in the recipe really adds something special. I LOVE pineapple flavor, so I should have guessed!

How to Make Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake

To get started, you’ll just need to have these ingredients on hand.

  • butter
  • brown sugar
  • crushed pineapple in heavy syrup
  • cherry pie filling
  • cake mix

Time needed: 1 hour.

Recipe instructions:

  1. Prepare the dish

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. With the 1 tablespoon butter, grease the bottom and sides of a 9 x 13 baking dish. Evenly spread the 2 tablespoons brown sugar on the bottom of the pan over the butter.

  2. Add the filling

    Dump the pineapple and the cherry pie filling into the pan, stir and spread evenly. Spread the cake mix evenly over the top.

  3. Top with butter and bake the dump cake

    Cut the 1 ½ sticks of butter into small pieces and place evenly over top of the cake mix. Bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour or until the top is golden brown.
