Aloo / potato stuffed bread pakoda is one of the popular North Indian street food. It's a favorite breakfast or teatime snack for most of them. You can prepare your favorite potato filling for stuffing. Here i make the simplest and easiest one.
Ingredients:
- Bread slices-6
- Potato-2 medium
- Oil-1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
- Thinly chopped ginger-1 tbsp
- Thinly chopped onion-1 small
- Thinly chopped green chilly-1 tsp
- Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
- Chilly powder-1 tsp
- Chaat masala- 3/4 tsp
- Salt-to taste
- Coriander leaves chopped-2 tbsp
- Besan flour- 1/2 cup
- Rice flour- 1/4 cup
- Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
- Chilly powder-1 tsp
- Salt-to taste
- Oil-for deep frying
- Pressure cook potatoes until well cooked;
- After cools down peel its skin and mash it; keep aside.
- Heat a pan with 1 tbsp of oil; splutter cumin seeds.
- Add ginger; saute for a minute.
- Add onion and green chilly; saute until soften.
- Add all the powders one by one and mix well
- Add mashed potato, salt and coriander leaves; mix well until well combined.
- Turn off heat and allow the mixture to cools down completely.
- Now prepare the batter for coating bread slices.
- In a bowl mix besan flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, chilly powder and salt.
- Add little water and make a slightly thick flowing batter.
- Take a slice of bread; top it with two table spoons of potato masala and spread it evenly.
- Cover it with another slice of bread and press well.
- Prepare all of the sandwiches; Cut the bread slices in to two equal triangles.
- Heat a pan with enough oil to deep fry.
- Now dip of the prepared triangle in besan batter and coat even quickly.
- Drop them in to hot oil and deep fry until both sides are golden and crisp.
- Drain in to paper towel and serve hot with a cup of tea!!!
