Aval/poha is flattened rice flakes. We can make savory and sweet dishes using poha. They easily get cooked and tastes good. Aval upma, aval ladoo are some of the aval recipes listed earlier in my blog. Ingredients:
- Aval/ Poha-1cup (thin white)
- Milk-4cup
- Jaggery-as per sweetness
- Cardamom powder-1/4 tsp
- Ghee-2 tbsp
- Cashew-few
- Raisins-few
- Melt jaggery by adding 1/4 cup of water.
- Strain to remove impurities.
- Keep it aside.
- Heat a pan with ghee.
- Fry cashew and raisins until golden.
- Take it out from the pan and keep aside.
- In the remaining ghee add poha and saute for about 5 to 6 minutes until crisp and slightly changes its color.
- Add milk in to it and boil.
- Cook for about 10 to 15 minutes or until rice gheer thickens.
- Add melted jaggery syrup and mix well. Add cardamon powder and fried cashews and raisins.
- Turn off heat and mix well.
- Serve warm or chilled and enjoy!
